PARTY!!!!
OPTIONAL TASKS - Choose 3 of the following to submit as part of your assessment for Media Studies this semester. Any 3 will do.
1. Prepare a letter for distribution to local businesses asking for sponsorship for colour pages of the College magazine. 2. Compare a hard copy of a magazine to its online version. Note the target audience of both, the interests included in both - are there similarities, differences, surprises? Which do you prefer and why? 3. Mag Appeal Covers - Complete Exercise 1, questions a - f, on page 5 of Visual Texts (purple and green book available from Ms Shanahan). 4. Choose a media related topic we have not covered so far this semester. Create a teaching/learning tool about this topic. 5. Eye Catching Ads - Complete Exercise 1 on page 7 of Visual Texts (purple and green book available from Ms Shanahan) 6. Visit this website and watch how a magazine cover can be retouched. Once you have explored the site thoroughly write at least half a page discussing why you think the changes have been made and what the effect of those changes might be. 7. Play the mag match game by clicking here, printing off the pages and then matching each mag cover to its target audience. Be sure to explain your choices...that is, explain how the cover showed you who would be interested in it. 8. Investigate how our school magazine could become an online resource. How would you apporach such a task? What would you add/omit? Who would you include/involve to help you? 9.Work through this online activity on creating a Girls magazine. 10.Watch the Clickview Film (Designing a Magazine) and complete the associated worksheets available from Ms Shanahan.
